HENDERSON Family Records

  • 1200

By J. Montgomery Seaver

The American Historical-Genealogical Society published family histories on forty-nine "best families" and among them the Hendersons. They have been prominent in Great Britains Empire, and in America, as members played important roles in war and in peace. We see those who served in the American Revolution. The name is old in Scotland. Descendants of Alexander Henderson of Fordell, County Fife, Scotland, three of whose sons emigrated to the American colonies, prior to 1740, and settled at Owl Creek, near Alexandria, Virginia. Alexander was the son of John Henderson, who it is believed, was a lineal descendant of Sir James Henderson (1450-1513) First Knight of Fordell and Lord Chief Justice to King James lV of Scotland.
