HINE: Genealogy and History of the Descendants of Thomas Hine, Milford, CT, 1640
By Robtert C. Hine
The early origin of the surname Hind, Hinde, Hinds, from hyne or hine, means a tiller of the ground, or farmer. This history and genealogy of the Hine or Hind Family begins with emigrant to America, Thomas Hine or Hind. (Heynes, Haynes, Hindes), who landed in America as early as 1646. His name is on the memorial bridge at Milford. He died about 1696, leaving a will of which is seen a copy. He married and had ten children. Descendants are given to 1899.
