HINSHAW - HENSHAW Family 1911
By William Hinshaw, Edited by Milo Custer
Of old English origin, and early history this family is seen in Europe with William Hinshaw, a gentleman of wealth and influence in the year A.D. 936. He was related to the royal family of England. In 1557, during great persecution of Protestants in England, under "Bloody Queen Mary", a Thomas Hinshaw, age 19, was taken into custody and scourged because he would not recant and turn Catholic. After her death, about a year later, he was released. For this reason the Hinshaws were of the early settlers to America.
