Provided in this publication is a history of the family, the civil and religious persecution in Europe, and the descendants of Jacob Hochstetler. A historical introduction is given by William F. Hochstetler. Jacob Hochstetler was an Amish immigrant to America in September, 1736, who resided in Berks County, PA. His family was attacked by indians in September, 1757, where his wife, son Jacob and a daughter were killed. The father and two sons were taken up the Susquehanna River. After three years father escaped, and the sons were returned after five and seven years. Follow through the trials of his captivity and escapeBarbara died about 1782, her husband in 1770.
