Who was Claiborne Howard and why was he remembered? According to family tradition he was the son of Thomas Jefferson. Old papers, letters, and notebooks found in Joseph Cook's attic, and curiosity. Claiborne Howard was born March 14, 1763 in Abermarle Cty., VA and died January 21, 1846 in Irdell Cty., NC. Married Salley Martin in April, 1790 in VA. And a soldier who fought in the war. These are the descendants of Claiborne Howard, a soldier of the American Revolution. The major family groups include Barnard, Brindle, Campbell, Clemons, Cook, Denny, Everidge, Felts, Hadley, Hobson, Howard, Hutchens, Mayberry, Messick, Tulbert.
