This genealogy of the Johnson family begins with William Johnson, born in Madison County, Colony of Virginia in 1714. He married Elizabeth Cave in 1742 and together they had nine children. She was the fifth child of Benjamin Cave and Hannah Bledsoe. The county was divided after Virginia became a state and their residence became part of Orange County, where they both were buried.
