Walter Brown’s book, The Maxson Family, begins with a listing of sources of information. This is followed by the early history of the Maxson family in what is now New York and Rhode Island. The book covers 10 generations and includes over 3600 descendants of John Maxson and Mary Mosher. The time period covered is 1630’s through the 1940’s. Each descendant entry includes birth, death, and marriage dates and locations for both descendant and spouse. Parents of spouse are also included. In some cases notes from wills, military records, church records or other public documents are included. The book is organized using simple consecutive numbers, where each entry is assigned a number. There is a separate chapter for each generation. Each chapter includes entry numbers of descendants from the preceding chapter. At the end of the book there are a listing of unplaced names, a couple on Appendixes with entries of uncertain connections, and a index of names for the 9th generation.
