Benjamin Hawkins, born on August 15, 1754, in North Carolina, came from a prominent family with a history of public service. He was active in politics, serving as a delegate to the Continental Congress and engaging in negotiations with Native American tribes. Hawkins was known for his efforts in Indian affairs, promoting trade, and maintaining relationships between the United States and indigenous communities. This volume contains the writings of Col. Benjamin Hawkins from the period of 1796 to 1806.
