Five known immigrant ancestors who shared the common experience of making a new life in a wild mountainous region, whose descendants intermarried. Some were from the Rhine Palatinate part of Germany and from England, and Ireland. These Heckert-Keister-Dyer pioneer families settled in the south fork of the south branch of the Potomac River in Virginia, now West Virginia.
