She joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with her family in England. She set out on her own an sailed to America, then traveled with a handcart company to Salt Lake City, Utah, arriving in August of 1860. She was age 21. Information on her death record states that she became ill on the ocean voyage, and ultimately died of typhus fever very soon after she arrived in SLC. Her grave was located in 1988. A description of "The Last of the Handcarts, 1860" and the "Ninth" are given. These were emigrant Mormons who were traveling to Salt Lake City from all over the world. When the family did not hear from Annie her brother William was determined to go to Utah to find her. In time his parents and the rest of the family joined him in Utah.
