This is the story of John Jacob Hug, 1793-1860, of Switzerland, whose six grown children came to America to seek their future, married and established homes. It tells of the family background in Europe, their journey across the ocean and ultimately across the western prairies of America, pioneering in Utah and traveling by covered wagon to Union County, Oregon. A family reunion took place in Oregon in 1941, The name was of Hauck, Haug, a word for small hut.
