His parents embraced the Gospel in 1837, which led the family to migrate to DeWitt, Missouri, in 1838, and subsequently to Nauvoo, Illinois, in 1839. This early exposure to faith and community shaped his values and future endeavors.

Throughout his life, Henry was deeply involved in his community, serving as a Scoutmaster and participating in local parades. He married Lettie, and together they had nine children, fostering a family that would continue to grow and thrive. His commitment to service extended to various church positions, reflecting his dedication to both his faith and his community.

Henry Beckstead passed away on February 20, 1948, leaving a legacy that included sixty-four grandchildren. His life was marked by a strong sense of family, community involvement, and unwavering faith, which influenced many generations to come.
